A HOME FOR ORPHANED CHILDREN IN SYRIA.

Their parents are either dead or missing. In the turmoil of war, no traces of close relatives and family members can be found. The children have no one to turn to. In order to provide war orphans with a new home, a new SOS Children’s Village has been built near Damascus. The children get to grow up in SOS families: with siblings, under the care of their SOS mother. In this safe environment, the severely traumatized children receive psychological care – to give their emotional wounds an opportunity to heal.

Projects RELABEL

EMPOWERMENT FOR FAMILIES IN BANGLADESH.

Countless families are struggling to survive in the slums of Bangladesh. They often cannot afford a single meal a day. Children are forced to drop out of school and perform child labor, teenage girls are married off. Many families break up – children end up on the streets. SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit help families in need: through school fees and trainings, medical care and financial support, e.g. with a micro credit for a sewing machine or a small shop. This way, families can break the circle of poverty.

E-LEARNING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN DJIBOUTI.

For 16-year-old Kadidja it is a dream come true. Kadidja comes from a poor neighborhood in Djibouti. She is one of 200 young people taking courses at the SOS Children’s Villages E-Learning center. The IT skills taught at the center help young people to find decent work later on, e.g. at Djibouti’s booming harbor.
